The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality lifted a water-contact closure for Coronado Friday.

It includes beaches from Avenida Lunar, near the Coronado Shores condominiums, through North Beach.

Officials recently closed the area to water contact due to sewage-contaminated flows from the Tijuana River entering the U.S.

The shoreline from the border through Imperial Beach to the north end of Silver Strand State Beach will remain closed until sampling confirms the areas are safe.

For more information on the Tijuana River, call the U.S. International Boundary & Water Commission at 619-662-7600.
